Manga Bhama better known by her stage name Bhanupriya, is a main stream Indian actress who has appeared in Telugu, Tamil, films. She was one of the mainstream top heroine from 1983 to 1995. She also acted in fewMalayalam and Kannada and Bollywood films in the 1990s. She has started to work as an supporting actress from 1998 onwards.

Bhanupriya was born in Rangampeta village, near Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh, on 15 January 1966 into a Telugu family. Her family settled in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has an younger brother Gopi and a sister Shantipriya who was also an actress.
PERSONAL LIFE[EDIT]
Bhanupriya fell in love with Adarsh Kaushal an Hyderabadi, settled in the United States as a computer digital graphics’ engineer. Subsequently, the couple got married at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Malibu, California on June 14, 1998. The couple have an daughter Abhinaya born in 2003 at U.S. After spending few years in U.S. Bhanupriya got divorced from Adarsh Kaushal in 2005 and returned back to India to resume her acting career. Bhanupriya is now living in Chennaialong with her daughter Abhinaya.[1]
FILM CAREER[EDIT]
Bhanupriya has acted in around 150 films as a heroine in various languages. Bhanupriya began her film acting career when she was just 17. Her first film was Mella Pesungal (1983) in Tamil.[2] She made her Telugu debut with Sitaara, directed by veteran Vamsy. She has acted in over 80 Telugu films, about 40 Tamil films, 15 Hindi films and a fewMalayalam and Kannada films.[2]
Trained in classical dance, all her critically acclaimed movies were based on the subject of classical dance, like Vamsy'sSitara and veteran K. Vishwanath's Swarnakamalam in 1988 Telugu.
Another critically acclaimed movie was Sathyan Anthikkad's Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in Malayalam. She along with another popular actress cum dancer Lakshmi Gopalaswamy performed to the songs "Sivakara Damaruka" and "Ghanashyama" which were well received. She acted with Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty in the movies Rajashilpi and Azhakiya Ravanan respectively.
She is also part of Mani Ratnam's stage show Netru, Indru, Naalai.
She had Rhinoplasty to alter the appearance of her nose in her film career during the film Aararo Ariraro, in 1989. Around the same time she is also recorded to have had a cosmetic procedure to alter the shape of her belly button and boobs.[3]Her appearance and performances were well appreciated by her senior artist and her co-stars in Tamil film industry from 1989 to 1993.
Tamil Cinema's ace actor, Sivaji Ganesan had mentioned in one of his interviews that Bhanupriya is the only actress from the younger generation with matchable acting ability as Savithri and Padmini. Telugu Superstar Chiranjeevi mentioned that he enjoyed the chemistry with other actresses while dancing but with Bhanupriya he missed out on that as she always concentrated on the technical aspects of her footwork and treated him as a competitor instead of a co-star. Khushboo had mentioned in an interview that one role that she would not be able to do justice would be the role Bhanupriya enacted in "Aararo Ariraro". S.P.Balasubramaniam, in the Telugu show "Paadutha Theeyaga", named her as one of the graceful dancers of cinema, apart from Kamalhassan, Chiranjeevi, Prabhudeva, L.Vijayalakshmi and Vyjayanthimala. Actor Prabhu, in the TV Show "Album", named her as one of the best heroines from the 80s. Karthik recognised her as the heroine with exceptional actings skills during his interview with Divayadarshini, in the show "Koffee with DD". Dance Master Kala named her as the best heroine from the 90s.
She had also acted in a television serial, Shakthi, shown over in Sun Network channels. She is famous for her expressions using her eyes, which led her to a career in modelling. Her most famous ad was of Eyetex, a popular eyeliner. Cinematographer and director P. C. Sreeram once described her as having the most beautiful and photogenic face among south Indian movie actresses.
