Retrospective of films based on Bihar inaugurated
PATNA: A festival of documentary and feature films began at a cinema hall here on Friday as a part of Bihar Diwas celebrations. Inaugurated by minister of information and public relations Brishen Patel, the film festival titled " Retrospective of Bihar-based Films" was opened to commemorate the 50 years of Bhojpuri cinema.
Various documentaries prepared by the A N Sinha Institute of Social Studies on Bihar will be among the films to be screened at the film fest.
"The main aim of the celebration is to revive the lost glory of the state throughout the world by taking the festivities across seven seas in the run up to centenary of Bihar's foundation. The occasion will be celebrated at all those places where Bihar Foundation has its chapter," said Anjani Kumar Singh, HRD principal secretary, adding the CM would inaugurate the festivities at 4.30 pm on March 22 by floating 99 diyas at the temporary pond constructed in the middle of Gandhi Maidan.
A book on the life of struggle of 38 women, chosen from every district of the state, will also be released by the CM.
A souvenir on the art pieces produced at the two art camps organised at Bodh Gaya and the College of Arts and Crafts here will be released on the occasion.
Singh said the police department would also be participating in the celebrations in a big way. A dog show would be organised at the Gandhi Maidan here by the police department.
As many as 50 songs have been shortlisted from 1,800 entries by a committee of poets for final selection of Bihar Gaan, an anthem for the state.
"Our deadline is 2012, the centenary year of Bihar's foundation. We are not in a hurry to choose the song as it should portray the glory of Bihar and be a thing forever," said the principal secretary, adding "if we are unable to choose the song, we will try to get a book published containing these 50 songs."
Nukkad natak (street plays) will be held at six places in the city. National-level experts have been invited to teach the women teachers working for 'saksharta' (literacy) mission in the state, the art of joyful teaching and methods of positive classroom interaction.
The 'rangkarmis' (theatre artistes) on 'rangyatra' across the state and working on the right to education would be felicitated on the occasion, Singh said. The children coming to the city will be given training in yoga.
They will be given free T-shirts and caps with newly-designed logos specially for Bihar Diwas. "These logos will have a universal appeal," said the official, adding stickers are also being distributed for use on vehicles.
